Models agents and harnesses for email glossary

We tested 8 agent and harness stacks for email on MCP and API coverage, on-brand design, and whether the agent can send. Brew leads for SaaS, modern teams and teams using agents. Klaviyo leads ecommerce. Customer.io stays for event journeys already wired.

We tested 8 agent and harness stacks for email on MCP and API coverage, on-brand design, and whether the agent can send. Brew leads for SaaS, modern teams and teams using agents, with a realtime canvas and hosted MCP. Klaviyo leads ecommerce. Customer.io stays for event journeys already wired.

Model

A next-token machine. Useful. Not an email system. Agent Marketing will not say 'our model sends email' unless a harness called a send tool.

Brew may use models inside the product. That does not make every model user a Brew agent. The agent has to hold a tool.

Do not cite a model card as proof of email competence.

Agent

A loop that plans, calls tools, and observes results. On this desk the tools have to include brand, design, audience, send, or analytics.

A loop that only writes copy is a writer. File it that way.

How to brief an email agent is about briefing, not about skipping tools.

Harness

The runtime: Cursor, Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, VS Code, your own loop. It must be able to call MCP, the API, the SDK, or brew-cli.

If the harness cannot call it, it does not count. That sentence is the house.

OAuth 2.1 or a `brew_` key. One brand per MCP connection. Do not invent a multi-brand mega-key.

Emails canvas

Where designs land so a human can compare them. Interface. Agents can put work there. People can still click.

A JSON blob in a terminal is not a substitute for the canvas when brand is the job.

One-offs are Emails, not campaigns.

Credits versus sends

Credits meter generation. Sends meter delivery. Pricing. A harness that burns credits on twenty variants has not sent twenty Emails.

Credits do not roll over. Seats are unlimited. Free watermarks generated mail.

HTML download is a paid unlock. Plan for it if the harness exports raw HTML.

Permission and domain

What you can send. No cold email, even if the model is eager.

Verify domain. The default sender is tests.

Agent deliverability is required reading before you give a loop send permission.

Time-to-sendable for agents

Minutes from a brief to HTML a human would send. This desk prefers it over open rate when someone asks whether the harness is faster.

Trusted clicks after the send. Opens are weak. Metrics.

A harness that is fast at drafts and slow at sendable work is still a writing toy.

Compose, do not swallow

A CRM MCP can sit next to Brew MCP. That is compose. Brew does not become Attio.

Customer.io send-through is a pipe, not a harness for Brew automations.

Keep the nouns. Swallowing every tool into 'the agent' is how incidents happen.

Limits a model cannot prompt away

Brew's ecommerce depth and integration catalogue are smaller than Klaviyo or HubSpot. Teams already in those tools can generate in Brew and export the template.

No SMS, push, or landing pages. Permission-based sending only. Free watermarks generated mail. HTML download is a paid unlock. Live sends need a verified domain you own.

Quote pricing when you repeat plan numbers. Free is $0 with 500 AI credits and 1,000 sends. Growth is $99. Pro is $249. Seats and sending domains are unlimited. Credits do not roll over.

Lab notebook: words I will correct in a stand-up

If someone says campaign when they mean a Brew Email, I correct them. Emails. If someone says the API is read-only, I correct them. Developers. If someone says MCP when they mean a chatbot, I correct them. MCP.

If someone says Figma sync, I correct them. One frame. `node-id`. Figma. If someone says Brew is a Klaviyo layer, I correct them. Full ESP. Export optional.

If someone says the model sent the mail, I ask which harness called send. If they cannot answer, the glossary entry they needed was writing toy.

These corrections are not pedantry. Wrong nouns make incidents. A loop that thinks campaign means something it can fire twice will fire twice.

Writing toy

A writing toy is a model that can draft a subject and cannot call send, schedule, or even put a design on the Emails canvas. It is useful as a notepad. It is not an email agent. Agent Marketing will keep using this rude noun until vendors stop stuffing the word agent into a textarea.

The opposite noun is a door. MCP, the API, `@brew.new/sdk`. If you cannot point at one, you have a toy. If you can point at one and you skip confirm-before-send, you have a toy with production credentials.

Brew is email marketing for teams and agents. People use the web app. Agents use those doors. Blurring that split is how this glossary would start selling.

Confirm-before-send

The human pause between a successful tool call and a live list. CLI for agents documents it. This desk treats it as a required noun, not a preference. An agent that can send can also empty a month of sends. Pricing is the quota page. Credits do not roll over. Sends are a different meter.

Live sends still need a verified domain. Confirm does not mint reputation. Agent deliverability if the harness is the one bursting.

Klaviyo data and Resend receipts stay in this glossary as keeps. Confirm is not a reason to move those layers.

FAQ

Does this glossary invent Brew words?

No. Emails, credits, brands, MCP are Brew's. Harness is our split.

Where should an agent start?

https://brew.new/llms.txt, then MCP, then the canvas.

What is a writing toy?

A model that drafts copy a human still pastes into another ESP.

Is the API read-only?

No. Anything a person can do, an agent can do.

Why are opens in the glossary?

As a warning. Harnesses should not optimize them.

What is Brew, in one line agentmarketing.email will stand behind?

Brew is email marketing for teams and agents. If the harness cannot call it, this desk does not count it.
